WS-1000 Weather Station Firmware Upgrade

WS-1000 Weather Station Interface

Now with your CAT-1000 and a Peet Brothers Ultimeter® U-100, U-800 or U-2000 Weather Station or the Davis Weather Wizard III, you can provide timely weather announcements on your repeater system. By connecting either weather station to the serial port of your CAT-1000 and installing the WS-1000 firmware up-grade, you'll be ready to go.

WS-1000 Weather Interface
Interfacing is simple with just two or three wire connection between the weather station and the CAT-1000 controller at connector J1. Note: The WS-1000 firmware will not support HF transceiver control. All other features are identical to the existing CAT-1000 firmware. The interface consist of a Program ROM V4.00, Voice ROM 2.00. The Peet Bros. installation also requires the addition of a 4700 ohm termination resistor.

CAT-1000 Programming Information
Four new voice variables have been added to the vocabulary list to announce weather information. They are:

Variable	Description	Example (Variable in Bold)
104	Indoor Temperature	78 Degrees
105	Outdoor Temperature	68 Degrees
106	Wind Speed and Direction	The wind is out of the EAST at 10 miles per hour
107	High and Low Temperature	Today's high temperature is 81 degrees and the low temperature is 61 degrees
108	Rain Fall	Today's rain fall is .15 inches

Peet Brothers Interconnect
Use a four conductor telephone cable with modular phone plug on one end to connect the weather station display unit to the CAT-1000 at J1. Solder a 4700 ohm termination resistor between pins 3 and 14 of the 25 pin connector. Plug the connector into J1 on the CAT-1000 controller.

Davis Interconnect
The Davis Weather Wizard III is a simple direct connection to the CAT-1000 serial port through the Davis Weather Link interface option.
