  • Linking on CAT 400 ?..no PTT Port 2

HI everyone..we bought a new CAT 400 for our Repeater ..it works great,,but we can't get our port 2 to link. By reading the manual it looks to me like port 1 and 2 are linked via macro 01 which in default is turned on. We don't get any PTT on port 2 when the repeater is keyed. We would like port 1 & 2 to remain linked at all times....if I send the *902 for test tone ...port 2 will give PTT..that's the only time PTT shows on port 2...any help ?....Gene..VE3IJD nr OwenSound , On

Linking on CAT 400 ?..no PTT Port 2

The CAT-400 can control Port#2 linking within any macro you wish. Take a look at the CAT-400 commands section in chapter 5 and you'll find the port controlling with a 7000 series pointers.

You may also look at the default settings as a guide:

    CAT-400 User Macro Default Data
UM# CMD MACRO ACTION INTERNAL COMMANDS

    01 51*21 CONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #2 7011
    02 51*20 DISCONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #2 7010
    03 51*31 CONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #3 7021
    04 51*30 DISCONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #3 7020
    05 51*41 CONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #4 7031
    06 51*40 DISCONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #4 7030
    07 51*231 CONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #2, #3 4041
    08 51*230 DISCONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #2, #3 7040
    09 51*2341 CONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #2, #3, #4 7041 7051
    10 51*2340 DISCONNECT PORT #1 ? PORT #2, #3, #4 7040 7050

Check your pointer settings and see if you can get your PTT#2 back again.

      400 no ptt...con't

Hi Al, I think Ron simulated our problem in the shop. If the link radio is receiving it won't enter into a PTT state and we had to shorten the tail and get rid of courtesy tone on the far end repeater that we linked to. It looks like this is limited to the 400 only as the 250 worked fine in his shop....We are waiting for any final outcome as we would like to run other links...Thanks...Gene, VE3IJD

Linking on CAT 400 ?..no PTT Port 2

I am having the same problem described on this thread. I have a CAT-400 (V1.04) controlling a MSF5000 CLB on port 1 and it is working great. However, port 2 (Maxtrac) link radio will not key up from the port 1 repeater or when receiving on port 2 radio. I also have verified port 2 utilizing *902 and it keys up the link radio and sends the test tone. I have verified that the link radio gives a solid positive COS (.006 - 3.6VDC) and the appropriate dipswitch is off. I have even disconnected the port 2 radio and tried a positive COS directly into the J2-1 and no PTT (ground) was observed on J2-3. I have tried another 400 controller with factory default settings with the same issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try turning on Port 2 with DTMF command A2. Command B2 will turn Port 2 off, again.
