  • Programming via Internet

My club is wanting to eliminate the phone line for the autopatch and replace it with an Internet connection, which would open the doors for a lot of other things at the site.

I currently use the phone line for repeater control and for programming updates. Is there a way I can accomplish this (especially programming) using an Internet connection?

I also would like to know about internet connectivity. We ARE in the 21st century.

I use VOIP telephone adapter on the autopatch. For programming by way of the terminal, you can use a serial to IP converter. Since we have a computer at the repeater site for IRLP, I just have the CAT's RS232 programming cable connected to the IRLP computers serial port at all times. Then I can program it over SSH.
